Summer training opportunities for the girls Washburn soccer program have been announced for 2018. Stay in shape and train for the fall season at Washburn Stadium.
It’s a rematch of the rematch, with the Washburn Millers and Wayzata Trojans meeting for the 6AA Championship for the third straight year.
It’s a double date at home as the second-seeded Millers play third-seeded St. Louis Park at Washburn Stadium. The semifinals of the 6AA sectionals is on. Girls at 1:00pm, boys at 3:00pm.
Both varsity teams are seeded second in 6AA sectional playoffs, with the girls taking on Southwest and the boys playing Robbinsdale Armstrong. Both games are at Washburn Stadium on October 12. Girls at 5, boys at 7.
It’s deja vu all over again as we predict another year of both teams getting a number two seed in 6AA sectionals behind Wayzata. Playoffs begin Thursday, October 12.
Last match of the regular season, that is. Both programs play St. Louis Park at home at the ‘burn, with girls at 12 and boys at 2. Girls JV Orange opens the day at 8:00am.
It’s Senior Night Thursday on the Washburn turf, with both programs playing Minneapolis South. Boys at 5, girls at 7. Other girls teams are in action throughout the week.
Varsity returns home to Washburn to host city conference rival Minneapolis Henry/North/FAIR, while JV Orange, JV Blue, and the freshmen host Orono and Minneapolis South at Pearl Park on Wednesday.
Coming off a 2-0 victory over Class AA second-ranked Maple Grove, varsity travels to Edina’s Kuhlman Stadium to take on the fourth-ranked Hornets at 5:00pm. JV Orange, JV Blue, and the freshmen squad also travel to Edina, with 4:30 matches at Edina High School.
